## Purpose

Assign or reassign cases so the right person owns the work.

## Who can assign

- **Admins** can assign any case to any facilitator.
- **Facilitators** can:
  - Self-assign open referrals from the inbox.
  - Reassign their own cases to another facilitator (with a reason).
- **Teachers** cannot assign cases.

## How

1. Open the case.
2. **Assignment → Change**.
3. Pick the new facilitator.
4. Add a short reason (audit-logged).
5. Save.

The new owner receives an in-app notification and an email. The previous owner receives a notification confirming the handoff.

## Co-facilitators

For complex cases involving more than one staff member:

1. **Assignment → Add co-facilitator**.
2. Pick the additional user.

Co-facilitators have the same edit rights as the primary; only one is the "owner of record" for reporting.

## FAQ

**Can I bulk-reassign cases (e.g. when a staff member leaves)?**
Yes — **Administration → Users → ⋯ → Reassign cases**. Choose the new owner.

**Does the teacher see who the assigned facilitator is?**
Yes, on the case in their portal.
